Blogging - (verb) •add new material to or regularly update a blog. •write about an event, situation, topic etc. In a blog. So why did I start a blog? It’s been almost a year since I started blogging - in today’s post I share why - along with tips for budding bloggers. ♡ ”a girl should be two things. Who and what she wants.” creating a blog to share with the world isn’t a decision I simply made overnight. It was something I had been considering for years but never had the confidence to do. What if people judge me? Think I’m weird or don’t like my posts?! I suppose these thoughts are natural - when you’re deciding to put your thoughts out there, there’s always the risk of backlash. After months of lusting over other people’s stylish blogs I decided it’s finally time to create one myself. i think being constantly called ‘quite’ at school made me feel like in a way, I didn’t have a voice. Just because someone doesn’t shout their thoughts out doesn’t mean they don’t have any! My blog would become a positive space to share my interests in fashion, travel, beauty & art as well as more serious topics such as mental health. Instagram has always been my place to create my ‘aesthetic’ - to share my photos that I love to take. But I wanted to take these images one step further and express my thoughts too! Blogging has opened up so many interesting and new opportunities. I’ve become a “coconut queen” for the site coconut lane which is such an amazing opportunity! I only wish to share things I would genuinly consider using so when I got the chance to become part of their team I was so excited to share with my following. ♡ Blogging has allowed me to create a virtual documentation of things that hold great memories. I think it would be interesting to come back in 10 years and re read some of my posts! I’ve created posts in Greece, Paris, London and simply in my own room. All have special meanings and I hope those who read them have enjoyed them too. i think it’s really important to speak up about issues that effect us - such as bullying , mental health , discrimination etc. A blog is a Perfect space to share these thoughts - and you never know - your post could be actually helping someone. to me - weekly views and comments don’t matter. Of course it’s nice to know that people like what you’re creating and I massively appreciate all the feedback I get! But simply having an outlet - a space to make your own and be creative is what really motivates me. ♡ Below I’ve complied a list of a few tips for those wanting to start up a blog ➷ Tips1. Pick a platformyou need to establish a place where you intent to create all your posts on. Buying your own web address can be expensive and not really necessary. If your readers want to read your posts they will read them on whatever platform! I personally reccomend weebly - I love how easy it was to create my site and I can write and upload posts straight from my phone. But there are alternatives such as blogger which I’m sure are just as good! You will be given your own unique web address - the only difference is it will be under your platforms domain. 2. Write what you want to write.i can’t stress this enough! Forcing a post because you think others will like it is not being true to yourself. If you want to write about a hobby you enjoy - write about it! It’s your space to be you - don’t let anyone stop you. Of course more people will read your post if they are interested in it - but my weekly views fall and rise - it’s just part of the experience! 3. Create a scedulethis was the best thing I did in terms of planning my blog. I know that I need to have photos ready for around Saturday to create a post to share Monday. I also then need photos for Wednesday to create my mid weekly review. Planning this out makes the process pretty stress free and much more enjoyable! Sometimes I write drafts and save them until I feel I want to share that particular post. Everyone operates differently but this is what works for me. ☆ 4. Have fun & dont take it seriously!blogging is just fun really - nothing to take too seriously! If your photos look really bad because the lighting had decided to go yellow, or you get 5 views on a post you spent ages on - it doesn’t matter. ♡ nobody should judge you - it’s simply something for you to be proud of. ☆ I hope that’ this post provided people with the courage to start their own blog - or simply a greater insight into the activity. I’d be happy to answer any questions - either leave a comment below - or message me on any of my social media. ♡
