29/1/2019 0 Comments How i sTyle my instagram 2019I created one of these posts in May of last year, but I feel since then my style has changed a lot, and the way in which I edit my photos has also changed, so I thought it was time for another blog post! I’ll share my top tips, for styling, shooting, and editing the ‘perfect instagram shot’. ♡ filtersas I mentioned above, I created one of these posts in May of 2018, where my instagram was much more minimalistic in its colour scheme, being mainly black and white, with quite high levels of brightness and exposure. ↷ As much as I love this style, as it’s so clean and crisp, I’ve also fallen in love with the beige style, that I’ve seen a lot recently, so decided to switch it up! ↷ I feel that my beige theme is much cozier, and gives me beach vibes, even in the middle of winter! Switching the style of my photos, meant I also switched the way in which I took and edited them. The main and obvious difference is the level of exposure, which is turned right down, and I believe can give beautiful effects. lower expose helps to highlight those areas of light, and really darkens the darker areas, which I feel creates a really warming feel to each photo. This warmth also comes from the filters I now choose to use. Most of my photos are edited on VSCO and I use either A4 or most often M5 as my filter. as you can see, the difference between the 2 filters is subtle, but M5 provides a warmer feel, with more orange undertones, where as A4 is a little darker. What I love about VSCO is that you can save your own ‘recipie’ of filters and adjustments you have made, allowing you to easily edit, and maintain a consistent feed! lightingthere’s nothing I love more than when the sun shines through my window, and I can get a set of photos I’m really happy with. My main tip is natural light is best. The sunlight just provides the most gorgeous golden glow, that can’t be replaced by artificial lights. The sun creates the most beautiful shadows, especially with glass objects. Perfume bottles, full or empty are a personal favourite of mine. Even on their own, they create the most stunning minimalist chic photos. Also crystal cut glasses Create intricate dazzling shadows, that will really set apart your feed from anyone else’s ✨ backgroundI’ve also tried to switch up my backgrounds, to give my feed a lot more diversity and depth. I used to stick to a white duvet, but now I’ve experimented with silk pillowcases, straw bags, cotton drapes to name a few! Instagram for me, is all about being creative, and sharing what I love with others. Experimenting with different styles is never going to go wrong, as long as you enjoy it! I love seeing what textures and shadows can be created using different materials, and I’ve noticed more engagement in my posts, when I switch up the way they look. ♡ what to photographfinally - what to photograph! And my simple answer to this is - what you love. For instance this photo is made up of many of my favourite trinkets and treasures, along with some bulkier items such as my how to be Parisian book, and of course Chanel n°5. I find jewellery is so versatile, and adding things such as flowers adds a little extra life to the photo. In terms of placement, I just scatter things out, and more often than not, I find this creates the best effect - effortless chic. I usually take a set of around 30 photos with the same objects, all different variations, then post sporadically over time. Using the app UNUM helps me plan out my feed and I’d defiantly reccomend for anyone wanting to turn their account into more of an aesthetic account, rather than a personal one. ♥︎ i hope this has helped a few people, I actually really enjoyed writing it!
Have a good week, Zoë x
