3/8/2018 0 Comments How i style Instagram photosfor me Instagram is a creative outlet, a space to create a collection of things I love. My feed is typically flatlays and I sometimes get asked how I create my photos. Here's how i style my Instagram. ♡ Pick your theme picking a theme could range from picking a specific subject matter or colour scheme. This is key to creating an aesthetically pleasing instagram feed. I've chosen to go for a minimalistic colour scheme, mainly white, with hints of pink, grey and black. These are colours that appeal to me so I felt I would enjoy taking photos with them. I felt they suited my style but anything goes! It's all about being as creative as possible and expressing yourself. I chose to go down the beauty and fashion route because that is what I'm passionate about, which I think really helps. cHose your camerai think a big misconception about taking good photos is that you need a professional camera. In my experience this isn't the case! About 98% of my photos are taken with an iPhone camera. I prefer the effect it gives, makes it much easier to edit and upload, and is just generally easier! Here's a comparison of an iPhone photo compared to a professional camera. as I said I personally prefer the iPhone quality, which shows that anyone can take photos - you don't need specialised equipment. styling your photosonce you've established your theme it's time to pick a background. I find it good to have one consistent place to take your photos, preferably with good lighting. I choose to use either a piece of A1 white mountboard, or a white duvet cover. With a good background taking photos Is pretty simple. When I come to do a shoot I typically take many photos at once and stagger when I post them- creating a diverse theme but also getting many photos in one go. I normally just grab things from my room: books, magazines, jewellery, makeup items etc and arrange them however I feel they go well. I take a range of photos using 1-3 items and then others with many items in. This helps create a balanced feed. plAnning and editingfor me the app UNUM has been an essential instagram tool. It allows you to plan out what photos youre going to post when, so you can get your feed just as you like. It also allows you to edit your photos. thpicslly I will whiten my photos, turn up the brightness and then depending on the subject matter I'll play around with the contrast and saturation. You don't have to edit your photos but it's just how I prefer to work. It's important not to get obsessed over your feed - it should just be somewhere to be creative and share your interests! How it looks shouldn't make a difference. hAshtagsat first I was apprehensive about using hashtags for fear of being judged, or appearing like I was "looking for likes". Hashtags are for connecting with other people who have to same interests as you. They're nothing to be worried over. I've found many pages through hashtags , that I wouldn't have found otherwise - and I've been able to find people who enjoy Similar things to me. It's best to research which hashtags would suit your theme best, in order to get your profile out there. ☆ be yourself and have fun!instagram shouldn't be taken seriously , it's just somewhere to have fun! If you want a theme then have a theme , if you don't then that's okay too! Never be scared of people judging you - it's your space to be you. This is just how i style my photos but there is no right or wrong. . I've really enjoyed using Instagram the past year. I hope one day it will be something I'll able to look back on and be proud of. ♡ what are your thoughts on Instagram? Let me know in the comments ♡ Zoë x
